SabrinaX: Taking Home Audio to the Next Level

Wilson Audio has been a leader in the high-end audio industry for years. David Wilson is considered to be one of the fathers of the high-end audio industry, and his son Daryl has carried on Wilson Audio’s legacy.

Part of that legacy is seeing the evolution of the Wilson sonic signature. As fellow audiophiles, we are excited to discuss the purposeful design of the SabrinaX, one of the latest developments from Wilson.

The Evolution of Wilson Audio

The SabrinaX utilizes technology and aspects in its flagship model to create a series of more affordable floorstander speakers. These are suited for listeners who enjoy the simplicity of form and don’t want to compromise on performance. 

Improved Enclosure: 100% X-Material Shell

The SabrinaX is enclosed in a super-smooth panel material known as X-material. The finish is more uniform than the original, as the initial model used X-Material in only the baffle and lower spike plate.

Daryl describes x-Material as a “…near-silent material that enables music to emerge from the SabrinaX from a blacker background.” This allows listeners to detect superior silence between notes, which is one of many factors that augment the speaker’s rhythmic pace and timing. This material is incredibly dense and requires diamond-tipped tools to manufacture.

Enhanced Technology

The cabinet for the SabrinaX is unique but shares some aspects of other Wilson creations. The SabrinaX’s tweeter is the Mark V, which is shared along with the WAMM Master Chronosonic, Sasha DAW, and the new flagship XVX. 

Wilson’s in-house capacitor-production team also developed custom AudioCapX-WA, multi-section capacitors for the SabrinaX, first used in the Chronosonic XVX. The in-house capacitors help with low-level resolution and provide a cleaner signal path. This allows SabrinaX’s crossover to benefit from a Wilson AudioCapX specific to its needs.

The new model also uses the same Wilson-designed binding post, similar to the XVX. This unique design improves reliability and sonic integrity for high-current connections.

Sound Quality

While the Sasha DAW is the undisputed powerhouse of the smaller Wilson floor standing series, the SabrinaX gives little in the way of comparison. The SabrinaX has slightly less bass power and extension. However, it was designed with smaller spaces like city apartments in mind. The SabrinaX could be the right choice of speaker for a smaller listening room where extra dynamic range and minimum loudness are not needed.

The internal workings of a Wilson loudspeaker utilize custom-designed, heavy-duty wiring harnesses by Transparent. Transparent Audio cabling works seamlessly to couple amps to the Wilson line of speakers, including the SabrinaX.
